NIH has recently announced two Roadmap initiatives - one generic and one directed towards the cancer community - which will be of interest to all those pursuing translational research. These applications offer the potential of access to intramural NIH expertise, infrastructure and reagents relevant to translational research to the extramural community.

Doris Duke Charitable Foundation is also pleased to announce two new competitions in 2006:
- Clinical Scientist Development Award
(Pre-Proposals and Letters of Support Due January 31, 2006)
The foundation seeks proposals from physician-scientists conducting clinical research who have a full-time, faculty position at the Assistant Professor level or below. Up to 12 three-year grants of $135,000 per year will be awarded. - Distinguished Clinical Scientist Award (Nomination Packages Due February 14, 2006) The foundation seeks nominations of mid-career physician scientists from academic medical centers and other non-profit research institutions in the U.S. Up to 5 grants of $1.5 million for five years will be made to investigators at the associate professor level or higher conducting translational clinical research.
