Resources
The Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics (ITMAT) offers many resources for investigators to support translational research. These include facilities in which to conduct such research, cores to support the diverse demands of interdisciplinary science, and a series of pilot funding programs to catalyze interdisciplinary and translational research.
CTRC
The Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) provides the resources, environment, operations, and training to support and promote high-quality clinical and translational research. The CTRC has child and adult specific components at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS), respectively, as well as joint components. It supports outpatient facilities and designated inpatient beds for clinical trials, managed by nurses with extensive experience in clinical research.
Centers
The award of the CTSA has catalyzed the formation of new Centers within ITMAT. These are multidisciplinary entities, committed to interdisciplinary, clinical and translational research programs, education and the provision of service.
Programs
ITMAT programs represent interdisciplinary themes which are at an early stage of development in the partner institutions. Programs will foster the development of collaborative interdisciplinary interactions which might in time acquire educational and service functions as they evolve as nascent centers. The decision to elevate a program to center status would be made by the Operational Oversight Committee of ITMAT.
Cores
Cores housed within ITMAT are designed to address infrastructural barriers to clinical and translational research. These cores exist to deliver service and typically have a cost sharing structure that enables their expansion and development.
Funding Opportunities
There are many funding mechanisms available to faculty who are members of the Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics (ITMAT).
