Master of Science in Translational Research

Master of Science in Translational Research

Breakthroughs in science are happening faster than ever. Our challenge is to turn rapid discovery into real-world care.

The Master of Science in Translational Research (MSTR) equips emerging scientists to close this gap. Through flexible, mentored research training and a vibrant interdisciplinary community, learners gain the skills to lead in academic medicine, industry, and beyond. The MSTR program fosters scientific innovation, agility, and professional growth in a rapidly evolving biomedical landscape.

Join our next cohort of clinical fellows, postdoctoral scientists, early career faculty, and pre-doctoral students—and become the leader who bridges disciplines and drives change.

  • Program Structure

Through a combination of coursework and a mentored research project, this 2 year training program will enhance skills in research methods, analytics, responsible conduct of research, and scientific writing.

  • Mentorship

A robust mentoring structure will support learners through scientific and professional development.

  • Research Project

Trainees will design and execute a research project under the guidance of a mentoring team and a thesis advisory committee. Trainees will spend 80% of their time on their research project.

  • Career Advancement

The professional development program intentionally focuses on training resilient scientists. Focused topic areas include team science, leadership, conflict resolution, negotiation, and management skills.

MSTR students are seeking:

  • Training in research methods across the translational science spectrum, including how to translate discoveries into clinical practice.
  • Rigorous mentorship that adopts a comprehensive approach that supports all aspects of their career development.

MSTR graduates typically remain engaged in clinical and translational science, with many having secured NIH K- and R-series grants, leading translational research initiatives, and collaborating across academia, industry, and regulatory agencies to advance human health.
