Pathway Programs
These programs build foundational knowledge and provide structured exposure to research environments:
- Translational Research Immersion Program (TRIP) – For undergraduates at partnering institutions
- Pre-doc Preparatory Program in Translational Research (P3) – For post-baccalaureate students employed full-time as research staff in rare disease research labs preparing for graduate or professional school
- MS1 Summer Internship – For first-year medical students at Penn
Training Programs
These programs are designed for advanced trainees and junior faculty building research careers:
- TL1/T32 Predoctoral Training Program – For predoctoral trainees pursuing mentored research in translational science
- TL1/T32 Postdoctoral Training Program - For postdoctoral trainees pursuing mentored research in translational science
- I2SEED Training Program - For predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees focused on entrepreneurship and translational research in Alzheimer’s Disease and related disorders
- Translating Discoveries to the Bedside Bootcamp - For clinicians and scientists focused on medical device development

- KL2/K12 Mentored Career Development Program – For early-career faculty committed to developing independent research careers
- K to R Program – For faculty preparing competitive NIH R-series grant applications
- Clinical Trialist Training Program (CTTP) - For early-career clinicians committed to developing and implementing investigator-initiated clinical trials
Professional Skills Development Programs
These offerings strengthen core competencies in clinical and translational science (CTS), mentoring, and research operations:
- Professional Skills Development Program – Reserved for MSTR and MSRS students, TL1/T32 trainees, KL2/K12 scholars, and CTTP trainees.
- Research Mentor Training – For all research mentors
- Research Professional Training – For research staff seeking foundational or advanced training in clinical research operations
Science Communication Programs
These programs support innovative approaches to making science more accessible and engaging for different audiences:
- TRIP: Artist in Residence– This residency invites an artist to join and actively engage in all aspects of the Translational Research Immersion Program (TRIP). The artist collaborates with students to explore creative ways of communicating science to the public, using art as a medium to translate complex ideas into accessible narratives.
